Logic - Velcro

What does the input do?

It can be used as a logic input. AND gates: cover image (left), when all Velcro patches adhere to the gap, the circuit will be closed. OR gates: cover image (right), when Velcro patches adhere to either one of the gaps, the circuit will be closed.

How it works?

When Velcro patches adhere to each other, the circuit will be closed. With circuit structure design (cover image), logic functionalities can be realized.

You will need:

• carbon black ink and polyurethane
• Velcro
• conductive silver fabric

Sensor structure & Fabrication steps

• Laser cut Velcro.
• Dip-coat & brush-coat the Velcro with carbon black ink and then polyurethane.
• Connect with silver fabric segments (refer to the cover image. Left: AND gate; right: OR gate).
