What does the sensor do?

Augment off-the-shelf wearable accessories or garments to bend sensors.

How it works?

Stretch deformation in fabrics within their natural elasticity range (non-forceful stretch) can lead to elongation in fabric structures and less contact area between yarns, which will cause resistance increase.

You will need:

• carbon black ink and polyurethane
• off-the-shelf wearable accessories or garments
• conductive silver fabric

Sensor structure & Fabrication steps

• Brush-coat the wearables with carbon black ink and then polyurethane in areas where bend sensing is needed.
• Iron silver fabric segments onto wearable accessories or garments.
